Accomplishments

Since our inception in late 2005, the Coalition has endorsed over 5,100 new units in both Alameda and Contra Costa counties.  Some of our projects include:

Westshore Marina, City of Richmond

This Toll Brothers project will be a model for future bayside development.  With 269 units at a density of 45 units/acre and proximate to both existing transit and the proposed Richmond Ferry Terminal, this project also provides over $400,000 of tax increment to the city on an annual basis.  A significant portion of these funds will be used to create additional workforce housing opportunities in Richmond.

Centrada Temescal, City of Oakland

This small project, 51 unit project, proposed by Shasta Production Services takes an innovative approach to workforce housing.  Through the creation of units of all sizes and price points and by working with existing city home buyers programs and a non-profit mortgage company, they are taking a new, creative approach to affordability.  This project like many of ours is an example of appropriate use of under-utilized land and downtown revitalization.

Oak to 9th, City of Oakland

Signature Properties have established themselves as a leader in high density, urban infill development and the Oak to 9th Street Project is a fine example.  With 3,100 units of high density waterfront development, it will create between 465 and 620 affordable units.  At a density of 126.5 units to the built acre, this is an exception example of elegant density.  It will also provide 30 acres of publicly accessible, privately maintained open space on the waterfront.

Civiq, City of Oakland

Another Shasta Production Services Project, the Civiq project replaces an abandoned parking lot and adult cinema with 67 units of high density housing.  It exemplifies an important component of our goals, by providing for the re-use of underutilized land.

Pt. Richmond Shores, City of Richmond

Over $18 million of tax increment will flow to the City of Richmond over the next 25 years as a result of this elegant Toll Brothers Project.  Situated on an old warehouse site in Pt. Richmond, it will create 324 units at a density of 47.6 units/acre.  It provides for 50% of the project site to be publicly accessible open space and creates a significant upgrade to the San Francisco Bay Trail.

Faria Ranch/Northwest Specific Plan, City of San Ramon

The Coalition engages in advocacy for both specific projects as well as longer range planning processes that will help create additional housing options in the East Bay.  The San Ramon Northwest Specific Plan will help create 786 units of fully integrated single family, townhouse, senior and apartment housing, including 27% of the units available at below market rate.  Nestled in the San Ramon Hills abutting public park lands, it provides an additional 362 acres of open space.

Walnut Creek General Plan Update, City of Walnut Creek

The City of Walnut Creek has been a leader in the creation of high density urban infill housing.  The recently approved general plan update plans for as many as 600 new units of very high density housing within walking distance of the Walnut Creek BART station.
